Quartz bowls originally were birthed in Silicon Valley in Northern California as a result of the semi-conductor industry. The quartz crucibles that were used to hose and grow the crystal ignots used to create computer chips were fashioned into sizable bowls. These gave off a pure sine wave tone void of harmonics.
