Sound and Energetic Alchemy to Wake Up, Balance, and Re-Align Your Whole Self
Instrumental music has a greater amount of flexibility contained in its structure and use of moods and intentional changes. Without a voice as the focal point telling the story it is telling, instrumental music is free to wander. The story it tells is based on the response of the listener. There is no directive guidance per se. It lets the listener wander. Sure there is rhythm and melody and key and chordal structure, but the composer is free to experiement with all of the above as well as the texture. Instrumentation can be more creative without the vocal taking up the space.
In creating my instrumentals through the years I have followed the same chakra based principles with which I write my vocal songs and intentional music. I like to brainstorm ethereal and new agey titles that reflect a conscious human living fully in the multi-dimensional soup. The title may point to a chakra. The chakra may invite a feel and a rhythm. That feel gives birth to the melody. The ornamentation is based on inspiration and the extensive palette of sounds available via the many synthesizers, both real and virtual.
The instrumental often takes longer and it may be a challenge to know when it is "finished". I love it when I am moved by a sound into a musical realm.
All of these creations can support meditation and guided journeying. Rhythmic, up-tempo songs can be just as meditative as a slow moving many mood composition. Much depends on my intention behind the creation as that energetic is infused in the playing and recording. The invitation is to use each as a vehicle to cleanse, clear, and align your frequency signature in real time. As you allow that you will develop a new relationship with sound and its capacity to dance with your cellular self.
