ABOUT THE SONGS

Since 1987 I have been a member of Unity, a worldwide New Thought Spiritual Organization. Unity’s co-founder, Charles Fillmore, developed a metaphysical understanding of certain powers that all humans possess. Loosely related to the Eastern teachings on the chakra system, these 12 powers express characteristics that are present when one is balanced and healthy. One or more powers may be compromised, in which case, one can work to bring them into balance. Often times, one has a stronger development of one or more powers which often reflects as characteristics of their personality. At any rate knowing about the twelve powers invites us to work with each, seeking to find expression of them all for a fuller, richer human experience.

In 2000, I chose to reference one of Charles’ books and create these 12 short, repetitive, and singable songs to support each of the powers. Each song reflects a certain key that aligns with the vibrational location within the body. The song, like a chant, can be sung to increase the vibration of the center. Additionally, each power is supported by a color and also linked to one of the twelve Disciples of Jesus, an interesting pairing that reflects the character of that Disciple. Below is a chart of correspondences that may be useful in using these songs to their full potential.
