Activities to Enhance the Vocal Mechanism

Take time to be around an infant or a newborn and listen. Listen closely to the sounds they make. These seemingly random sounds are far from that. They are a combination of specific frequency massages that clear stress in the body and an exploration of the physical mechanism itself. Learning the parameters of the voice is an essential part to staying in a balanced state. From this state one is confident to use the voice as a sounding tool to communicate emotion and idea.

The voice sounds pitches and phonemes. These sounds are using physics to keep the body clear of debris. They vibrate the cells and bring them back to the identity frequencies of each being. In addition they offer dimensional connection with guides and etheric teachers and support beings. It is actually more powerful that there are no words used. Sounds carries unadulterated messages, void of learned or adapted meaning/interpretation that will later compromise one’s experience and understanding of communication. Just beautiful, moving sound frequencies.

So, one of the most powerful things you can do to enhance your vocal mechanism. Go back to the perspective of the infant and begin simply to explore your vocal mechanism and resonance chambers. Work with placement, pitch, and tone. Make all kinds of sound. Your voice is the source after being filled with the breath. Breathe and sound…and stay balanced. Play with your shaping of the vocalized sound with your mouth. Move the lips and the tongue. Use all of the phonemes: vowels, consonants, both, diphthongs, blends, combinations of sounds and breath. What happens when you sound an r and simultaneously change the shape of your mouth and placement of the tongue? Harmonics….a whole different domain of the voice. Powerful and probably more healing than pure tone, it impacts on multiple levels. Play and play and play…sound and sound and sound.

Often as a result of the moments of living and the subsequent energetic debris and unprocessed/unspoken traumas and abuses our voice gets impacted and compromised. Not only do we lose connection with the resonance chambers but we also lose specific frequencies in the voice. It becomes a hollow representation of our true voice. A branch of Sound Healing explores this and identifies the specific missing frequencies. It then feeds them back into the system via specific recordings. The result: profound changes and healings.

Another thing you can do to enhance your voice is to listen to others singing and speaking. By attempting to mimic their voice you are expanding your own awareness and capacity of your voice. This simply gives you more to work with. Listen to other languages and accents and recreate them. Make tribal sounds, animal sounds, never before heard sounds. Just make them.

Sure, you can spend hours in specific scales and exercises designed to improve pitch and fluidity for singing. But often this comes at an expense. The natural voice becomes a trained and artificial hint of itself. Listen to genres of music and notice the necessary affectations to make it “authentic” . Then listen to a variety of artists performing. Soon it is hard to tell one from the other. Listen to male country singers to hear how this works. It is a bit hard to tell who’s who.. Though all voicing is good, some do not necessarily keep us in a balanced state. Performance and entertainment are one thing and that I beautiful…but one would be wise to practice vocal self care to keep the whole mechanism fluid and capable of spontaneity.

Tongue twisters help articulation and diction. Being understood by the listener is important in healing music….if that is your intention. If your lyric has value and affirms a condition then it is necessary that it is heard. Search online for tongue twisters. You will not be disappointed. There is certainly much more than “How much wood would a woodchuck chuck…”

Toning, running sound sirens up and down, can help to keep the voice fluid and the range expanded. Be careful  to not push too hard on the sirens. Straining the vocal cords is unnecessary. Toning also clears the energy bodies of light low frequency energy attached to the aura. Running a few sirens before going to sleep can keep away the heebie jeebies of the day.

Have fun and be unstressed and casual as you explore your voice in the suggested ways. Get to know your voice far beyond the sound of you. Entering these inner and outer arenas with a playful attitude. Much will be revealed to you. And, in the meantime, some of your own healing will be taking place. Then….find a way to incorporate what you have learned and experienced into your creations…for the benefit of all.
