On day 12 of the stay at home stay in place directive in California I had finished the cleaning and recreating my living space to match my new vibration and frequency. As I was turning to my list of what’s next, I was interrupted by what I will call, a Celestial Directive, to write 33 songs about the experience I am in and make them relevant to the collective. Excuse me, I blurted out! C’mon, you can do this, I heard. Yeah…you’re right, I said.
So, I grabbed paper and pencil, my preferred tools of writing songs, and proceeded to simply brainstorm 33 titles. That was easy…Sent them to 4 people to tell me the top 10. Multiple opinions but enough common ones to make those the ones I would write for the concert performed on May 6.
The writing came in stages. I took the title and turned on the recorder and then let myself improvise with the guitar and voice to create a foundation and direction. Usually I take the first thing that comes as I feel it is the one. No resistance, just flow. It took three hours but I actually set the key, melody, basic chord structure, mood, and rhythm and even got some appropriate phrases to include in the next phase, the writing of lyric and making the song. 33 solid ideas to flesh out in that three hours. In the flow.
Then I turned to the 10 I wanted to feature at the first concert. And here we are…sharing the songs.
Below is the list of songs I set up and played during the two concerts. Included also is the one song from 2012 I played as the first because it fit so well.
