Session One: The Nature of Sound and Vibration Sound and Vibration History of Sound Healing, Part 4

Reference to specific historical cultures will underscore the significant impact they have made to present day Sound Healing Practitioners.

Atlantis
This ancient civilization was well versed in the ways of science based upon the foundation of universal principles, at least in the earlier days before lower vibrations of greed and power undermined the culture. Before its demise they established a series of tonal chants for healing purposes. The potent chants have survived the millennia and have been revealed in these times. They will be taught in a later section focusing on chanting. Word is that descendents of the Atlantean race have incarnated en masse in these times to support energetic transformation, essentially getting another opportunity to make right with their  gift of energy and knowledge.

Greece and Pythagoras
Through the invention of the single stringed monochord Pythagoras established the harmonic series and thus created  scales and modes that clearly had energetic and emotional impact upon the listener. As already noted, he established music theory which can be utilized extensively in working with sound to alter vibration. The very timbre of an instrument is possible because of the harmonic overtones present. We shall explore the use of harmonic and timbre and scales and modes in lessons to come.

Tibet
This small country high in the Himalayas has been a keeper of the vibration for thousands of years. The immersion of the monks and the Dalai Lama with the people has resulted in spiritual and vibrational information and practice to be commonplace. The unique chanting style of the monks that sounds three different notes simultaneously utilizes the very harmonic overtones Pythagoras had discovered. Additionally, their seven precious metals hammered metal bowls are, to this day, notoriously powerful sound healing tools. Their horns, drums and sacred chants punctuate the temples with the essence of the vibrational multiverse.

India
The spiritual and holy walk side by side with the general populace in India, so much so that no one thinks twice about the yogi chanting by the side of the road.  Typically of Hindu source the music reflects the scriptures of the Vedas. The tonalities and the unique scales of Indian music have always allowed it to be powerful as a tool to influence vibration. The creation of ragas has specific scales used for specific times of day, times of the month, seasons, and moods, making the musician in the know a vibrational healer for the masses.  The music is melodic and arrhythmic, frequently expression as a single note massages into an infinite array of tonalities. It is music of the astral, and its impact on the  listener is multi-dimensional, contributing to inner reflection and journeying. Even the influx of Western musical influence primarily through film, has spawned a unique industry, Bollywood, whose music is still particularly infectious and uplifting.

China
A rich musical tradition has spawned an immediately recognizable style that at once feels familiar and often creates a sense of yearning and longing for an inner home. Chinese Healing music has followed a traditional use of modal music based on 5 pentatonic scales.  Five Element music addresses the Metal/respiratory system, Wood/Liver and nervous system, Water/kidney, Fire/heart, Earth/digestion. Sound healers will use specific music and scales to address organ system symptoms. Of great values to the sound healer are the Chinese gongs, full frequency washes, that cleanse and align at the same time.
