The natural world is the playground of the child, where the panorama of life and the multidimensional kingdoms still speak to the core in a language that is too quickly fading from consciousness…temporarily. Part of lifes journey is to reclaim the magic and wonder of the design. And out in nature is where ones spirit is free to flow and get out from the familial and cultural injunctions and directives.
As often as possible, at least daily, nature time is a must. Even in an urban setting there is a patch of uncovered earth in a park or a garden or in the middle of the block surrounding a tree. If not then find some somewhere as often as is practical.
Get the shoes off, breathe deeply from the feet and call for the empowering and cleansing Earth Mother energies to sweep through your being and reactivate the wholistic connection that feeds and nurtures. Open up the senses and drink in the nuances of sensation, sound, color, and intuitive knowing. Call for an expansive connection and then watch with the eagle eye for the critters to come forth with their messages and gifts of reconnect. And when they do come forth to commune, engage them. Talk to them. Ask questions. Send them good vibes. Play with them.
Invite forth the elemental playmates as well. First seen out of the corner of the eye look for the flitting movement. Listen for laughter. Feel the kiss of the breeze. Notice and be open. You used to know them all by name. Fairies and dwarves are your buds, tending the garden for your spirit, holding court until you come home.
Let your child self lay down the burdens, confusions, frustrations, and wounds. Get down on the grass and feel the connection. Let the old energy go replacing it with the substantial sustenance the Earth gifts you with. Be grateful and witness the beauty of everything around in this natural kingdom.
Recharge and expand. Reawaken the relationship with the great Mother and carry her whisperings and touches and songs back to your home together…you and your little one…bursting with secrets that no one needs to know about. Talk about it under the covers in the night and cast adventures into the ethers that you will embark upon at mornings light. Make the imagination blossom with reignited use and then watch as it delivers the most exotic journeys imaginable. Why not?
This time is essential to the child self. You, as the adult, are never too old to rediscover the wonder of being you, wide open and connected in the ever changing dance of delight.
