A Child’s First Christmas

December night candlelight All things have changed

A new stocking hung Gently with care

The silence is stirred By soft babbles and coos

She calls to the angels somewhere

And her eyes sing remember and whisper my name

She smiles from a place In her soul

She reaches for something I think it is me

My heart fills with feelings Unknown

And the lights on the tree Seem much brighter This year

      I believe there’s a Much whiter snow

I haven’t loved Christmas For the longest of time

But this one here Before me has Opened my eyes

It’s a child, my child Gabriela is filling my world

And the video’s running The diary is full

Each moment is captured Each moment so new

      It’s a child’s first  Christmas

Every moment says,“Daddy, I give you my love”

Every sound is a song For the world

Every breath says, “I’m growing I’m growing so strong”

Every thought is for you Gabi girl

So what can I give you For Christmas this year?

What present can show How I feel?

Just keep saying, “Yes” To these changes you bring

And know that this love is for real

And the lights on the tree Seem much brighter This year

      I believe there’s a Much whiter snow

I haven’t loved Christmas For the longest of time

But this one here Before me has Opened my eyes

It’s a child, my child Gabriela is filling my world

And the video’s running The diary is full

Each moment is captured Each moment so new

‘Cause I want to remember These days of my life

When you love changed My world And the fear in me died

When you carried the promise Like a rose in your hand

that told me dear Daddy You’ve become a man

      It’s a child’s first Christmas

…Five months later was her first Christmas...a poignant time of personal reflection for me added to the natural process that I had outlined above. An actual child in arms triggers and amplifies the call of the Inner Child self to raise the whole vibration. Both are important and deserve attention and nurturance. What I recall in those moments of being with Gabriela is how much I was stirred. Her presence flooded me with a litany of Christmas's past images and feelings that washing through like a desert storm. What was best of all was that I was feeling again, after a significant time when I focused more on fulfilling my responsibilities rather than tending to my own self care…
